Leading With Purpose
One of Nancy’s very first dreams was to be a talk show host. She wanted to act as a gateway for people to share stories about their struggles, dreams, hopes, failures, and so much more. If you listen, everyone has something to say and a story that could change your outlook on life.
Before she could do that, life was tossing her an unforeseen setback – one that would alter life as she knew it forever.
When Nancy was sixteen years old, she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa – a degenerative eye disease that causes severe vision impairment. The doctors told Nancy that gradually but noticeably, she would lose her vision until about age 40, where she would be left completely blind.
After this impactful news, you might assume that Nancy would have lost all hope right then and there of having a “normal” life. But Nancy used this news to fuel her ambition. She became more determined than ever to pursue her dreams and live life full out. Yes, life had thrown her a curve ball, and the straight path she once saw in front of her became cluttered with countless new obstacles, but Nancy was determined to push those hurdles out of her way to find a new path for herself.
And she’s done just that.
Armed with a broadcasting degree, she started off her journey as a television anchor. The life she had always wanted was within her grasp, but it didn’t take long before reading the teleprompters was too difficult for her eyesight, so she looked to other ventures for fulfillment.
Nancy went into the entertainment business as a singer and recorded a studio album. Singing has always been a passion for her, but her vision was getting increasingly worse, and the studios were becoming too dark and inconvenient.
She switched career paths again to become a real estate agent and managed her own business for thirteen years. Eventually, her vision became so impaired that she could no longer drive, which made being a real estate agent in Los Angeles seem out of the question.
Nancy had to consistently alter and change her dreams to fit them into her life as a legally blind woman, but she persevered and did not lose hope. Ever since her young adult days where the world was full of possibilities and endless opportunities, she had wanted to support people and assist them in sharing their stories with the world.
So where does she go from here? Her degree in psychology made becoming a certified life coach a natural choice. From there, she had access to the world of motivational speaking. In May 2008, Living Full Out was born and Nancy was now the CEO of her very own motivational speaking and coaching company. Her true dreams of helping others have become even more realized in recent years. In 2010, she started her own Living Full Out radio show on KFWB, which advanced to KBC in 2014 and is now national. She is a best-selling author of motivational books while excelling as a life-coach, CEO, and motivational speaker. In 2015, after all of these years embarking on amazing journeys, pushing her limits, and overcoming any obstacle life threw at her she went back to the dream that started it all.
